KUWAIT CLASSIC CARS
A collection of photos taken by Ghazi Sultan of classic cars in Kuwait (circa late 1950s - mid 1980s)
From the late 1950s, Kuwait’s streets were filled with American and European cars. These cars marked a new era - sleek, powerful, and modern against a backdrop of traditional mudbrick homes and unpaved roads. They represented progress, yet were driven by people deeply rooted in customs and community. Weekend drives and family outings became part of a new lifestyle, bringing together the old with the new. Classic car culture in Kuwait wasn’t just about the cars, it was about the shift they quietly carried with them.
